TOE JACKS

While a lot of things in life are designed with a little clearance underneath to allow access for servicing, some things are not. One of the most common items would be a fork lift - It simply cannot be built with a higher center of gravity or the thing would fall over every time it turned a corner, therefore they are ground huggers. Get a flat tire on one and MAYBE you've got an inch or so to squeeze a jack into to lift the beast up - What do you do? Voile', Toe Jacks to the rescue!

The idea is pretty simple, just take a regular jack and put a collar like device over the top that extends down along one side to a height of about 1" to 2" off the ground and you have a Toe Jack - But hold on, it's not quite that easy! Unless you make the collar quite massive and design the jack underneath as extremely heavy duty all that lop-sided pressure is going to wear out your seals and main ram cylinder mighty quickly. Solution - Pour on the Cast Iron, balance the collar and design the cylinders stronger. Resulting in a platypus-looking, overly heavy & pricey, lopsided lifting device that only a maintenance worker in a power plant could love - And love it he does, 'cos nothing else will do the job!

If you continually have to lift up heavy objects with clearances of only a couple of inches - You Need A TOE JACK!
Here's how they measure up:
